JoyceDeWitt first appeared on stage at the age of 13 years old. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree at Ball State University. Then, when she was performing in summer productions she was convinced by the director to attend UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program,where she received the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship in addition to the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt said that she had not had a conversation with Abe Vigoda during her time at UCLA. DeWitt is best known for her part in Three's Company's 1977-1984 run as Janet Wood. This was a job that she got after being selected for the second pilot. She also portrayed Janet in a 1979 episode of the spinoff show The Ropers. After Three's Company ended in 1984, DeWitt appeared in an episode of Finder of Lost Loves in 1984, after which she quit acting for several years. The actress returned to acting in the role in the stage production of Noises Off at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse in June 1991. [1] She was also a part-time actress in the show Spring Fling which was a 1995 TV comedy. A character who was based on her, voiced by an actress, was in the 1997 episode of Pinky and the Brain. She was in the episode Cybill. Six of her 2000s TV works included Hope Island and The Nick at Nite Holiday Special as in addition to Call of the Wild.
